Thomas Corbett's Line


Thomas is the brother of Edward, Bart, John, Elinor and MaryAnn, children of Patrick CORBETT and Sera HAWCO who married February 28, 1808.

Thomas was born in 1809. He married Elizabeth HEALEY from Holyrood. Thomas and Elizabeth had a son, Bart CORBETT who drowned when he was only 14yrs old January 9, 1867.

They had another son, Edward, who was born in 1836 who married Bridget WADE who was born 1851 on January 7, 1873. Edward died in Chapel's Cove August 1, 1907. His wife, Bridget preceded him in death dying as a young woman of only 36yrs on November 12, 1887.

Edward and Bridget had five children. They were Elizabeth born August 1876, Thomas November 14, 1877, Joseph 1880, Edward Joseph (called Ned Joe) born August 1882 and Sarah Joseph born October 15, 1884. NedJoe went to the states, married but his wife died leaving him with three children. These children were Helenora (Elinor), Gertrude and Charles. He came back to Chapels Cove and lived with his brother Thomas and his sister, Elizabeth. Thomas and Elizabeth never married and they ran a store in Chapel's Cove. Thomas had polio as a 10yr old and could not walk. He was able to use his hands for everything. The story goes that the fairies got him and he never walked again, but it was polio. Elizabeth lived to be an old woman. She died October 31, 1939. Thomas died March 10, 1935.

Charles (known as Charlie) died around age 9 on May 27, 1929. Elinor died in the 1990s. She was married at the time.

Edward, father of these children, remarried when Bridget WADE died. He married Jane FEWER who was born in Chapel's Cove. Edward died April 1, 1907. Jane was in the 1921 census living with Thomas, Elizabeth and NedJoe's daughter, Elinor, so she died after 1921.
